It reminded me of the last lines from the poem "Ulysses" by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Since I first read them my senior year in high school, they have been sort of a guidepost for how I wanted to live my life as I aged. Your last words are such a thoughtful reminder to all of us to embrace whatever period of our life we are in. And of course, why not? We aren't 30 anymore. But it is both sad and disconcerting and I am reminded of my aunt who at mid-90s said "All my friends are gone." The lesson from this: Make young friends.

Just last week or the week before a woman with whom Rick was very much in love between Robin (his ex-wife) and me died suddenly. I never asked if they found out a cause -- he didn't know when he told me. But we've talked about it often and I see how significant this loss is to him. His grieving process is a tough one. The good thing -- they were still long-distance friends. But the thing is, it's a huge loss. And sudden and surprising.

And it was yet another reminder to grab life, not hold off on that trip or that experience or to make a call or be in touch because we really never know.

I'm sorry to hear about Bob's sight and Tai's cancer rearing its ugly head more aggressively. I know you know what strength both those things will require from you and I send wishes that you will be able to meet those challenges head on.Jeaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17482528482559445943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7754684819908801536.post-68488060369025759482018-02-26T11:18:29.045-07:002018-02-26T11:18:29.045-07:00So true!
